A Fey Production Story
A Fey Production is…
A string quartet playing new music at a local brewery. A city-wide festival of musical happenings in every neighborhood. A 90-minute musical premiere by 35 musicians spread across a city park. A well-established chamber ensemble in need of administrative support. A performance mixing music, dance, and film.
A Fey Production is a lot of things - but our Vision is this: To present performances featuring work by living artists to new audiences in casual spaces in the Nashville area.
We achieve this through our Mission to:
Provide Administrative Support to local performing arts organizations
Provide Performance Support and Logistics to local performing arts organizations and individual artists
Create and present Signature Events – happenings that benefit local performing arts organizations and the community
Our work:
A Fey Production has been fortunate to work with a number of organizations in the Nashville area, head over to the Events page to see a calendar of every event we are currently working with. Or visit the Gallery to see A Fey Production in action.

our history:
Alan Fey began A Fey Production in 2019, in response to his increased involvement in the Nashville performing arts scene, in response to the perceived lack of administrative management across a huge number and range of arts organizations, and as a project that grew out of his participation in the Arts & Business Council of Nashville’s Periscope Entrepreneurship Program.
Our name? Well, it’s pretty obvious, right? Alan was often referred to by his last name in the music world (for whatever reason), and it seemed clever enough in referring to Fey’s various performing arts productions without being silly. Did you know: in English, the word “fey” actually refers to someone as having a “vague unworldliness,” or supernatural powers of clairvoyance - Alan Fey truly believes that music can be a spiritual experience...so it is close enough, right? (Just don’t look up the Scottish definition.)
Our Founder and chief officer:
Alan Fey is - like a Fey production - a lot of things: classically-trained percussionist, arts administrator, composer, arranger, conductor, craft beer and bakery connoisseur, husband, dad.
Alan has performed in spaces ranging from the Zeitgeist Art Gallery to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and from conundrum music hall in Columbia, SC to Millennium Park in Chicago to Carnegie Hall in New York. Alan studied primarily with Chris Norton at Belmont University, where he earned his Bachelor & Master of Music degrees in percussion performance. He spent a year in Dresden studying with Bernhard Schmidt, timpanist with the Dresdner Staatskapelle at the Hochschule für Musik. A regular performer with ALIAS Chamber Ensemble, Alan has also performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Opera Orchestra, INTERSECTION, Paramount Chamber Players, as a concerto soloist with the Nashville Philharmonic and Belmont Symphony Orchestras, in various chamber settings, and as a soloist and clinician throughout the southeast.
Alan directed the Nashville premiere of John Luther Adams’ Inuksuit, performed at Cumberland Park, and was the Assistant Music Director and Rehearsal Conductor for two Belmont University Opera productions.
Alan has arranged over a dozen works for solo voice, choir, percussion, organ, piano, double bass, handbells, and combinations of two or more of those. He recently completed a Latin requiem mass for a cappella choir, and is working on an English-language magnificat.
